![]() Mentoring & InductionLooking for assistance with your induction program? Need information regarding the latest research on mentoring? Wondering what other school districts are doing for induction? These are the types of resources available to all area school districts in Western and Central Maine through the Mentor Program Coordinators office at the RTDC. Schools interested in mentor training may receive onsite courses for graduate credit or abbreviated courses for recertification credit. Possibilities include: facilitation of mentor cohorts, onsite workshops, on campus seminars at UMF, or online offerings. Every month this page will feature highlights of an exciting induction program in our area or suggestions from the field about some aspect of mentoring. There will also be updates on how the revised Chapter 118 may affect induction programs throughout the state. As we strive to meet the specific needs of our service area, a recent highlight came from MSAD #12 in Jackman. It was my pleasure to present an overview to the staff of MSAD #12 on National Board Certification as Superintendent Richard Curtis is promoting NBPTS for professional staff development. Im eagerly following this process in the hopes of watching several staff members within one school building all pursuing National Board Certification at the same time. What a collaborative adventure these educators may be about to embark on! As the newest member of the RTDC Ive spent the Fall gathering data from as many school districts as possible in our service area. If youd like your school districts induction data to be included in our database, please contact me to set up a meeting. To date we only have the statistics from 18 of 37 school districts, and Im looking to interview someone from ALL of our districts. Sandy Griswold
